Finally Feeling Retired

I am not dreaming, I am retired

It took 45 days and a house sitting trip to Seattle, Washington, but I actually feel retired now. I feel free. I feel my own master. I feel lighter and can breathe easier.

In all the years I worked, I never took a vacation and stayed home. I was always traveling to visit family or friends or to see the world. So for the first couple of weeks after I left work, I was confused. I wasn’t sure if it was all a dream and I would wake up and have to go back to the office.

The last two weeks in Seattle have been a trigger. I have connected and reconnected with old friends, many of whom are retired. It was wonderful to get their perspective on life after work, to compare our goals and plans. Because I lived in Seattle for 15 years, I don’t need to visit the tourist attractions and sights. I am content to both see friends and spend time alone.
