Thanks. We saw a couple similar altars in other Spanish cathedrals. They were gated, though, so you couldn’t get close. I assume it was to protect them from being touched or damaged.

Thanks. It was hard to get a good picture, hence the slant, because the altar area is protected by a gate of iron bars. We saw several altars like this in Spanish cathedrals. Just incredible and so detailed.
