Variations on a Theme:

Buddha at Dambulla

The Damulla Cave Temple in Sri Lanka is a series of five cave containing depictions of Buddha. The second and largest cave, the Maharaja Viharaya (Temple of the Great Kings),  contains sixteen standing and forty seated statues of Buddha. The walls and ceiling are covered with 18th-century murals depicting the life of Buddha. Yellow and red are the predominant colors.

Hi. Thanks for the comments. Yes. I have been traveling. My first trip was a spur of the moment trip to Prague about 2 months after retired. I’ve done international and US trips. Just returned from a 3 week road trip. Off to Copenhagen in two weeks. I do love travel but there are drawbacks. It is hard to get involved in local a activities or classes because you may be gone. And you do lose some social connections on retirement and being gone regularly does make it harder. That said, I wouldn’t have missed any of my trips. Favorites: Namibia, Sri Lanka, France and Istanbul. Happy weekend.
