The Calm Before The Storm

General Gouverneur Kemble Warren, Little Round Top, Gettysburg National Military Park.Pennsylvania

Gouverneur Kemble Warren (1830 –1882), a civil engineer and Union Army general during the American Civil War, is remembered for the July 2, 1863 defense of Little Round Top during the Battle of Gettysburg.  A bronze statue of Warren by Karl Gerhardt (1853–1940) overlooks the battlefield from Little Round Top in Gettysburg National Military Park. It was dedicated in 1888.
