The Tortoise Nose Tree

The Eye of the Beholder

Happy Earth Day

Gopher tortoises are on the endangered species list as threatened. They burrow in the ground, usually in the sandy soul in long leaf pine habitat. They are the only native tortoise in Florida and live in the southeastern US. Your tortoise would be a different species if you are in the desert but it looks similar to ours. Hated biology as a kid but am much more open minded now that I’m older. Learning a lot! 😊

I’m staying in southern CA. They have a desert tortoise that wandered into the yard as a baby 25 years ago and never left. He just woke up from his hibernation. The cat is very curious.

That is so cool! We saw a snapping turtle the other day on the side of the road. I got out to take a pic and before I got a shot off, he turned back into the brush. Oh well.
