Playing With Photoshop Camera

Fun With Photoshop Camera

Yesterday I downloaded the new Adobe Photoshop Camera app for smartphones. It works on iPhones and some newer Android phones. The app is free. Based on reviews, it seems intended more for use with Instagram and its obsession with selfies. Having used it just a bit, I would agree, though I haven’t used it enough to take unfiltered images to compare them to my Samsung S9+’s regular camera. Photoshop Camera uses AI to perform automatic adjustments to the original photos. It has a range of filters/lenses for special effects that can be selected either when you take a picture or applied to images in your camera roll/gallery. Saving images to your camera roll/gallery is a bit confusing at first. The app is a battery hog so be sure not to let it run in the background.

The four photos above were taken within 30 minutes of each other in the late afternoon in southern California. The top photo of Cleo the Cat was taken without a filter. Any adjustments were made by the app. I could see the adjustments happen but don’t know what they were. The picture of Tortuga the Tortoise was taken with my Samsung photo app and I then applied a Photoshop Camera filter. For the two bottom photos, I selected the filters before I took the shot.

That app and photoshop express is really good for re-sizing a photo. I have large photos I keep for future gallery stuff, and this app will size it down for website uploading. Otherwise, it is a fun app for that and just playing around. Have fun!
