Almost On The Rails Again

A Lovely Delay

My train arrived in Chicago late, and I missed my connection to Washington, DC. Amtrak booked me into a lovely hotel, the Swissotel, and I upgraded to a corner room with a view. It has been years since I was in Chicago. I’d forgotten what a lovely city it is, even though I could see a Trump hotel in the distance. Lake Michigan is always worth it. I love train travel but it was nice to have a bed that didn’t move all night.

So envious of your travel via railway and all things considered, if you could spare the delay, I would say it was a pleasant experience- the view looks beautiful😊🤗

Yes, surprising the city was quiet. I like your attitude and enjoying the perks of retirement, particularly no rushing. Enjoying each moment – like your layover! I’m working to infuse more of that in my life right now❣️🤗

Amtrak had everything so well organized when the train arrived late it was hard to be upset, And Chicago, what little I saw of it this trip, is a lovely city. Happy weekend.

Lovely view. The only time I was ever in Chicago it was for a train layover. We had 23 hours between when the Southwest Chief brought us in and the Empire builder took us home. We love traveling by train, such a great way to see the country. Bon and safe voyage.
