Grain From The TRain
Views of a rural agricultural storage facility (called grain elevators and grain bins) in Illinois. The shots were taken from my room in the Amtrak sleeper car. We were getting close to Chicago but this wasn’t a stop so I am not sure of the exact location.

Thanks. Most small rural towns grew up along the railroad lines. This made it easier to load grain and other produce onto the trains for shipment. Many, if not most, of the rural grain elevators have closed. This one appeared to still be operational. Probably not more than a few hundred people in the small town. It was hard to tell as the train rushed through. Have a great weekend.

What a great shot. I loved our journey on Amtrak from Chicago, we headed west to Tahoe. Where were you coming from?

I was coming from Los Angeles to Chicago, where I changed trains for Washington, DC. A True cross country trip. I want to take the other two cross country trips one day, including the one that goes through Tahoe. Have a great weekend. Hope Portugal is staying strong against COVID.
