Square Tops #6: Top Model

Hello, Telephone

Top Model, Street Photo Shoot, Florence Italy

Join Becky’s April Squares: SquareTops. There are only two rules: the photo must be square and it must relate to the theme of the month.

The theme for April Squares is ‘top‘, and Becky has listed five idioms to choose from;

  1. On Top of the World – summit, crown, peak (tiptop) or uppermost part of something.
  2. Under the Big Top – topping or covering (or if you are really lucky a circus!)
  3. Room at the Top – first or highest in position
  4. Cherry on Top – something made even more wonderful by becoming square
  5. Top and Tail – or maybe you’d prefer to play around with word combinations such as top dog, top stitch, top hat, top secret, top knot, top drawer or top dollar!

The main tag is #SquareTops but you may also want to add a second tag using the idiom your square is coming under.

Toilet Paper Rex

Jurassic Generosity

Taking a walk in my sister’s neighborhood, we ran into these two young dinos handing out excess toilet paper. Luckily, we had a sufficient supply. Humor and laughter is so important in this time of great stress.  They made my day. Bravo.

Sign in one of the enclosures at the Snake Park at the Nairobi National Museum, Nairobi, Kenya

This sign is in an enclosure at the Snake Park at the Nairobi National Museum, Nairobi, Kenya. The enclosure seemed to hold only turtles, but there were serious poisonous snakes behind glass including a black mambo and a puff adder. The Snake Park has seen better days. It must have held more reptiles or animals at some point because large sections of display areas were empty. There was a small, newly renovated aquarium.

Hugh’s 51 Weeks:51 Hits from the Past – Week 36

Censored At School

In 1968 I was in the 8th grade at a small Catholic school. There were only 13 students in my class, all girls because the three boys from our 7th grade escaped to the public school that year.  Yummy, Yummy I got Love in My Tummy was popular, at least the chorus, and kids would sing the chorus at recess. The nun who taught our class, the very strict Sister Mary Matthew, or one of the other nuns, decided the song must be about sex or pregnancy or something. We were told we were not allowed to sing it until someone provided the lyrics for inspection. I have no idea whether or not anyone ever submitted the lyrics—I doubt most of us knew anything except the chorus, which is repeated over and over and over. As with other pop one hit wonders, it faded from memory probably before the nuns stopped worrying about its impact on the morals of teenagers. It seems funny to me now because no matter what it meant it was such an innocuous song.
