Golden Bells

It’s in the Details

Golden Bells, Tower of Hope, part of the former Crystal Cathedral, Garden Grove, California

Christ Cathedral, once called the Crystal Cathedral and the site of televangelist Robert Schuller’s “Hour of Power,” is now part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange in Garden Grove, California. The Golden Bells are part of the exterior architectural elements of the Tower of Hope, a 13-story office complex on the grounds of the church.  Designed in 1968 by  architect Richard Neutra and his son Dion, the Tower of Hope was the tallest building in Orange County when it opened. The fiberglass golden bells, donated by Walt Disney and known as the “Disney Bells,” don’t ring

Holiday Music I Love # 15

I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day

Let us all have goodwill toward humankind during the coming year. We need peace on earth.

I am a bit short in holiday spirit this year. Glum about the United States, the world, the environment . . .  I could go on. So, to help my mood I am going to post some of my favorite Christmas and Holiday songs. They won’t be in any special order, just ones I have played and replayed over the years.

Holiday Music I Love # 4

I am a bit short in holiday spirit this year. Glum about the United States, the world, the environment . . .  I could go on. So, to help my mood I am going to post some of my favorite Christmas and Holiday songs. They won’t be in any special order, just ones I have played and replayed over the years. Some of them might be religious, even though I’m not. But the spirit of giving, celebrating, sharing, and caring (that is Christmas to me) is in all of us, regardless of our faith or lack thereof.  Kenny and Dolly with a gospel choir is the best. The sound isn’t great (it is a 1985 TV show) but the performance is great. You might have to turn it up to sing along.
