Kandy was the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings and is a World Heritage Site. Flowers are a typical offering in temples in Sri Lanka.

The Bodhi tree temple complex in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka, attracts thousands of pilgrims everyday. Many leave offerings of lotus flowers. The Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi, planted in 288 BC, is said to the oldest and longest-surviving documented human-planted tree in the world. It is believed to have been propagated from the original Bodhi tree under which Buddha attained enlightenment.

Buddhist monks carrying offerings, at the lower entrance to the Dambulla Caves, Matale Region, Sri Lanka.
Buddhist monks carrying offerings to a giant golden statue of Buddha, which sits atop a museum building at the lower entrance to the Dambulla Caves, Matale Region, Sri Lanka. I thought they looked a bit scary. The museum, golden Buddha, and monks were constructed in the 1990s and are out of synch with the actual Dambulla caves.
Sri Pada or Adam’s Peak, Sri Lanka
Buddha’s footprints are said to be atop Sri Pada, Sri Lanka’s sacred mountain. Others contend they are Adam’s footprints. Thousands of pilgrims follow curving paths up the side of Sri Pada to visit the holy site.
